Bangor Daily News’ owner Bangor Publishing Co. has acquired the 58-year-old St. John Valley Times weekly newspaper from Walls Newspapers of Birmingham, Ala.
The Bangor Daily News reported the sale was effective Friday. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
There are no immediate plans for big changes at the St. John Valley Times, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The BDN’s publisher also owns five other weekly newspapers: The Star-Herald in Presque Isle, Aroostook Republican and News in Caribou, The Piscataquis Observer in Dover-Foxcroft, the Houlton Pioneer Times and The Weekly covering greater Bangor.
Todd Benoit, president of the BDN, said the St. John Valley Times is an important part of the region, and the Bangor newspaper is committed to finding ways to help keep it serving the St. John Valley.
