Bangor laments the loss of Little League ‘World Series’

Local officials and business leaders in Bangor say the decision by Little League International to no longer hold the Senior League World Series at Mansfield Stadium is the loss of a major economic driver in the city.

"It's truly a loss and it really makes us sad," Kerrie Tripp, the executive director of the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors' Bureau, told WCSH-TV 6.

Bangor has been home to the Senior League World Series for 15 years, bringing nine global teams and their families to the city for eight days, providing local restaurants and hotels with a sure stretch of business year after year.

"As a hotel, you have to try and replace that business, but the reality is, I don't see an eight-day event coming across our desk anytime soon, so it truly is one of those irreplaceable events," Brett Stacey, the general manager of a Bangor Holiday Inn that has hosted teams and their families for the last 13 years, told WCSH.
