Bangor wins contract renewal for troop flights

Bangor International Airport landed a new three-year contract to continue serving as the transitioning base for military flights to and from overseas assignments.

Global Aviation Holdings Inc. selected Bangor in a competitive bid process to continue providing service to troops, according to a release from Airport Director Rebecca Hupp. Bangor has served military flights the past six years, handling more than 1,000,000 troops and 4,000 flights. The airport's flexibility in handling irregular operations and competitive pricing were highlighted in Global Aviation's decision, according to the release, as were its service network of local vendors and suppliers for catering and hotel accommodations.

Global Aviation, based in Georgia, is the parent company of North American Airlines and World Airways.
