Buckfield company files Chapter 11

MainePCS LLC, a telecommunications company in Buckfield, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The company listed assets and liabilities of more than $1 million on its bankruptcy filing. A few Maine companies appear among MainePCS' largest unsecured creditors, including Oxford Networks, which is owed $194,000, and Advantage Payroll Services, owed $29,000.

MainePCS was launched in 2008 to offer GSM roaming services to AT&T and T-Mobile customers in western Maine, according to the minutes of a Bethel Planning Board meeting in October 2008 in which MainePCS was mentioned in relation to a cell phone tower company seeking approval for a new tower.
