Biddeford arms maker lands $10M Navy deal

Biddeford arms manufacturer VingTech has won a $10 million Navy contract to supply the military branch with sighting systems and a variety of machine guns.

Members of Maine's congressional delegation announced the award in press releases Thursday.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree said the award will support "good-paying" manufacturing jobs in the Biddeford area and Sen. Susan Collins said she "could not be more proud of [VingTech's] work and their important contributions to our national security."

The Norwegian company opened its Biddeford facility in early 2008 with around 40 employees and is a subsidiary of Simrad Optronics ASA.
