Escaping the Maine cold this winter may be easier, because there will soon be another flight option between Maine and Florida.
Breeze Airways, a domestic low-fare airline, will offer nonstop flights from Portland International Jetport to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Florida beginning Nov. 20, Zachary Sundquist, the assistant director of the jet port, said on Wednesday.
Those flights will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
“We’re thrilled that Portland has been such a successful market for us and we continue to see more opportunities for growth,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways. “For our guests in Portland looking for another great warm weather destination, Sarasota-Bradenton offers amazing beaches and much more.”
Other seasonal Breeze Airways destinations include Charleston, S.C.; Fort Meyers, Fla.; Islip, N.Y.; Norfolk, Va.; Orlando, Fla.; Pittsburgh; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Tampa, Fla.; and Westchester County Airport in New York.
Breeze Airways will also offer flights from Bangor International Airport to Orlando International Airport on Thursdays and Sundays, starting Oct. 3, and to Tampa on Mondays and Fridays, beginning Oct. 4.
The carrier also will offer seasonal flights to Fort Myers on Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting on Oct. 5.
"Breeze has been an incredible partner, adding 10 destinations in a little over one year,” said Paul Bradbury, airport director. “We are grateful for their continued investment in our market.”
Utah-based Breeze Airways began service in May 2021.
