Starting this spring, Breeze Airways will offer direct flights between the Portland International Jetport and Columbus, Ohio.

The seasonal service to the home of the Ohio State Buckeyes — reigning national college football champions after beating Notre Dame 34-23 last month — is scheduled to start on May 2.

“This is another great announcement from Breeze Airways for the Jetport” said Paul Bradbury,” the jetport’s airport director.

“Over the past two-and-a-half years, Breeze has continued to grow their presence in Portland, connecting Maine to many of our top unserved destinations,” he added. “We are thrilled to have this new service to central Ohio and thank Breeze for the continued investment in our market."

The low-cost carrier, headquartered in Utah, also announced service from the jetport to Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., that makes one stop though without requiring passengers to change planes.

From the jetport, Breeze’s other destinations include Fort Myers, Orlando, Sarasota/Bradenton and Tampa in Florida; Norfolk, Va.; Pittsburgh; and Raleigh-Durham, N.C.

“We’re excited to offer our premium low-cost service now to Columbus from Portland,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ founder and CEO. “We started service from Portland in May, 2023 and now offer 10 destinations from the Jetport.”

Last month, the carrier announced its first full quarter of operating profit and a 4% operating margin in the fourth quarter of 2024.

Total 2024 revenue amounted to more than $680 million, more than 78% higher than 2023.

Breeze Airways, which was founded in 2018 by and started flying in May 2021, operates more than 200 year-round and seasonal routes to 68 cities in 31 states. Its focus is on secondary markets.
