Brewing tenant signed for Thompson's Point

Bissell Brothers Brewing is expanding and moving to Thompson's Point in Portland.
Bissell Brothers Brewing Co. is expanding and moving from 1 Industrial Way to Thompson's Point in Portland, the company announced on its website.
“We are excited to announce that in the second quarter of 2016 we will be moving our entire operation to the Brick North building at Thompson’s Point in Portland,” the brewery’s co-founders Peter and Noah Bissell said in a statement posted on the website. “The move will include a significant increase in production capacity, tap room size, and retail efficiency, while allowing us to keep the Bissell Brothers spirit, experience and commitment to providing fresh beer for Maine intact.”
Launched in 2013, the brewery has grown faster than expected, the Bissells said in their announcement.
“It was not an easy choice,” they said. “The owner and management team at One Industrial Way have been exceptional to work with, and their embrace of brewing and beer culture helped Foundation, Austin Street and ourselves build something very special in an unlikely location. But even in early 2015, it became apparent to us that we had reached a tipping point where real growth would be difficult going forward if we stayed.”
The Bissells said until the move to Thompson’s Point takes place the brewery will continue to be open for business as usual at its present location.
Most of brewery’s current space will shift hands to adjacent Foundation Brewing Co., more than doubling that brewery's footprint and easing the strain on its tiny retail space.
Bissell brews complex, unfiltered ales targeted at the growing market of craft beer in Maine and greater New England.
“We believe that great beer comes from a commitment to be constantly challenging the perceptions of what different styles of beers can actually become,” the company's website says. Their flagship is a “brightly dank ale that threads many needles.”
