Brunswick-based music retailer Bull Moose is planning to open its 11th location this fall. The company announced yesterday it will open a store in the former Blockbuster location on Waterman Drive in South Portland's Mill Creek shopping area.
The South Portland Planning Board approved the company's plans at its July 10 meeting. Bull Moose plans to expand the building by 50%, to 11,000 square feet -- work that will create 60-75 construction jobs, according to a press release. The store, its ninth in Maine, will carry music, movies, video games, books and other entertainment items. When the store opens in late fall, it will employ 15 people.
Founded in 1989, the company focused on music, movies and video games until 2010, when its Bangor and Scarborough locations expanded to sell books. Its other locations in Maine are in Brunswick, Lewiston, North Windham, Portland, Sanford and Waterville. In New Hampshire, its stores are in Portsmouth and Salem.
