The University of Maine at Augusta announced that President Jenifer Cushman was elected chair-elect of the Council of Fellows Board of the American Council on Education, marking the beginning of a three-year leadership trajectory culminating in service on the ACE board itself.
Thomas College in Waterville said a team of undergraduate and graduate students earned various team and individual awards at the Society for the Advancement of Management International Business Conference. The team, consisting of Rossalyn Buck, Caleb Daigneault, Brooke Blockler, Shawn Von Oesen, Krista Staples, Kayla Weber, Jade Crowell, Preston Moody and Cole Ellis, earned first place in the case presentation open division; second and third in the open undergraduate division; and third and second in the written case competition undergraduate division. Individually, Crowell placed second for overall individual recognition and second for the knowledge bowl open division, Buck finished second for extemporaneous speech undergraduate division and Weber was fourth in the knowledge bowl undergraduate division.
The Associated General Contractors of Maine in Augusta recognized five major projects as part of its “2025 Build Maine Awards.” The “Overall Winning Project” was won by Wright-Ryan Construction for the Tekakapimek Contact Station; the “Bridge Division” winner was Reed & Reed Inc. for the Madawaska International Bridge; the “Building Division” was captured by Turner Construction for the Malone Family Tower; Consigli Construction Co. finished tops in the “Building Renovation Division” for Thompson Block; and NS Giles won the “Specialty/Subcontractor Division” for Back Cove Storage Facility.
