California health care company plans to hire 200 in Maine
Grand Rounds, a San Francisco-based health care company that matches doctors with patients, plans to hire up to 200 people over the next five years in Lewiston, company spokeswoman Robin Suchan told the Sun Journal.
The company was founded in 2011 and has 250 employees, according to the newspaper. It opened a second office in Reno, Nev., last year.
Platz Associates, the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, Maine & Co., the Maine Department of Labor, the governor’s office and congressional delegation staff were among the parties that met with the company over the past several months to lure it to Lewiston, according to the newspaper.
Grand Rounds works with large companies that usually have 1,000 or more workers to augment existing insurance plans to improve outcomes.
“Our service is matching patients with a physician either in their community or anywhere in the United States — it can be an in-person visit or a remote second opinion — who is the most suited to serve them and their medical needs,” Suchan said.
The company is finalizing leasing agreements, according to the newspaper, in the meantime working temporarily in the Great Falls Plaza in Auburn.
