Carbonite finishes relocating services to ME

Boston-based technology company Carbonite, which in July opened a customer support center in Lewiston, today announced it has completed moving all of its support operations back to the United States from overseas.

The online data backup company this spring said it would repatriate all customer support work, a decision that led to the opening of a center in Lewiston. Carbonite has completed transitioning technical support work from India to Lewiston, where it employs 150, according to a press release. "Moving customer service back to the United States is an investment in our customer experience and one that we think is well worth the resources we have devoted to it," said CEO David Friend.

The company is leasing 20,000 square feet of space at 18 Mollison Way, a complex also home to Spare Time Recreation and the Fairgrounds Business Park. It hopes to have a total of 250 employees at the Lewiston facility, its second U.S. center, by next year.
