The former president of Taction, a Waldoboro-based teleservice and sales provider, is the new general manager of Casco Bay Island Transportation District, the operator of the Casco Bay Lines ferry service.
The district's board of directors announced earlier today that Henry "Hank" Berg beat out 130 other applicants for the job overseeing the ferry service that serves residents of Casco Bay's six islands. Berg, who was also Taction's COO, led the company to profitable growth over his nine-year tenure, according to a release from the transportation district.
"We are extremely pleased to have found someone with Hank's ability and track record," said Patrick Flynn, the president of the board of directors for Casco Bay Lines, in the release. "Our goal was to find a GM with a strong track record of business success with excellent leadership skills. Hank seems to be a great fit and I believe he will bring a different perspective and a new skill set to the GM position."
Berg has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in electrical engineering as well as an MBA from Boston University, according to the release. Prior to Taction, he worked for a division of Lockheed Martin. He replaces Catherine Debo, who resigned as general manager in June.
