Casino backers to submit signatures
The group pushing for a casino in Oxford County is planning today to deliver its petition signatures.
Black Bear Entertainment spokesman Peter Martin said the group will deliver more than 100,000 signatures to the secretary of state's office to put the issue to a statewide referendum vote next year, according to the Associated Press. Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap must certify more than 55,000 signatures for the measure to appear on the ballot in November 2010.
Black Bear Entertainment last month said it had gathered 99,000 signatures for its proposed casino and four-season resort in Oxford County.
