CEI eyes Brunswick for new HQ

Coastal Enterprises Inc. is proposing to buy the Brunswick town office, police station and adjacent recreation buildings and then tear them down in order to consolidate its statewide offices there in a new facility.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Brunswick's town manager disclosed CEI's offer to buy the one-acre parcel after the town's police station and town offices move to new locations later this year and in the spring of 2014.

Grace Cleaves, senior vice president of marketing and communications for CEI, confirmed the private nonprofit development corporation based in Wiscasset has an 18-month option to explore the feasibility of moving to Brunswick.

CEI also has offices in Portland, Augusta, Bangor and seven other communities.

The newspaper reported that Brunswick's town council is scheduled to discuss CEI's proposal in a closed-door session before its May 9 meeting.
