Orono-based Cerahelix Inc., maker of a ceramic filtering technology that reduces water and carbon footprints, is ramping up its global marketing strategy with the addition of a chief operating officer.
William Paulus, a technology manager with over 29 years’ experience in manufacturing and global operations, will lead all operational, developmental and manufacturing functions of Cerahelix while also scaling up production, according to a news release.
“Bill’s business development expertise and operations skill are well suited as our new technology is applied in varied global opportunities in wastewater management and separations,” Cerahelix CEO Susan MacKay said in the release. “His new position will help us meet the large opportunities that await.”
Paulus said, “I am excited to join Cerahelix as it ramps up to meet its global market opportunities and I am thrilled to bring my operations expertise to its management team. With the world’s water needs in a critical state, I look forward to using the skills I have developed to create long-term customer value.”
Founded in 2011, Cerahelix has combined DNA biotechnology and ceramic chemistry to create a new class of ceramic filters for a range of industries including mining, food and beverage and pharmaceuticals. The company says its picofilters quickly and efficiently transform wastewater with less down time, decreased energy consumption, and higher water recovery. A year ago, Cerahelix opened a manufacturing site at the Bangor Innovation Center.
