Good Will-Hinckley Home for Boys & Girls, which last year laid off over 100 people and closed most of its programs, has released details of a new strategic plan to continue operating.
The Fairfield-based nonprofit, which provides housing and educational programs for troubled youth, Friday announced its strategic plan seven months in the making, according to the Morning Sentinel. Last June, budget problems forced Good Will-Hinckley to lay off about 110 employees and close its residential and educational operations.
To preserve many of its current programs, the nonprofit plans to explore a long-term partnership with another organization or businesses for financial help, as well as selling or leasing land and buildings on its 2,450-acre campus, which costs $1 million to maintain, according to the paper. Good Will-Hinckley would also offer off-campus programs. Though the organization would have a "significant presence" on its campus, it is unclear if it would continue to operate as a residential school.
Good Will-Hinckley officials did not specify when any new plans would take effect.
