Churchill Downs Inc., the new owner of the Oxford Casino, said it plans to invest nearly $3.2 million to expand the casino’s gaming floor.
Courtney Norris, a spokeswoman for the company, told Mainebiz the investment will increase the number of slot machines and high-limit tables at the casino, but she did not have additional details Friday. The casino now has 793 slot machines, 22 table games and a restaurant.
The Louisville-based company announced the expansion with its second-quarter earnings statement, which showed income jumped 3.5% over the second quarter earnings last year.
According to the unaudited earnings report, the company took in $50.3 million in the second quarter of this year, compared with $48.6 million one year ago.
The company said that additions to its gaming segment helped to boost net revenues from $51.8 million last year to $66.9 million this year.
The company closed on its purchase of the Oxford Casino, which opened last year, in July.
