The city of Rockland has acquired a pair of properties due to nonpayment of sewer fees, including a gas station that sits on one-fifth of an acre on the heavily-traveled Route 1.
The Bangor Daily News reports that the Route 1 gas station that was known as the Harry French automobile repair shop for 35 years before it sat vacant for 9 years, was foreclosed due to nonpayment on $270 in sewer fees. The property, which was owned by Rockland Plaza LLC, was valued by the city at $206,000.
The city also acquired a three-unit apartment complex at 56 Talbot Ave., assessed by the city at $218,200 for $222 in unpaid sewer fees.
City Manager James Chaousis told the BDN that he will bring recommendations to Rockland’s City Council on what to do with the properties once the city assessor and code officer file reports on the properties.
