A Tulsa, Okla.-based construction company has filed a lawsuit against Central Maine Power Co. claiming the utility company owes more than $1.1 million due to a project on a Rockport substation that faced several delays, increasing both the cost and length of the project.

In the lawsuit, Matrix North American Construction claims it was contracted by CMP to rebuild an electrical substation in Rockport in addition to installing four miles of fiber-optic lines to the facility.

According to The Bangor Daily News, initially the project was estimated to take 10 weeks to complete but instead took around five months for reasons outside of the construction companies’ hands, including the poor conditions of several utility poles that the fiber-optic lines had to be placed on.

Additionally, Matrix said that because the project extended into winter, the company had to pay for both snow removal and rented heaters.
