CMP, state troopers help with N.J. storm recovery

Repair crews from Central Maine Power Co. and 11 Maine state troopers are among those heading south to help with relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

For CMP, the company said in a press release that the effort recalls Maine's 1998 ice storm, when crews from New Jersey power company FirstEnergy came to Maine to help repair damaged CMP lines.

In total, CMP today sent 25 two-person line repair crews and 10 others to help with power restoration to FirstEnergy customers in northwestern New Jersey.

The Morning Sentinel reported that 11 state troopers also headed to New Jersey this week to help local law enforcement officials to work overnight shifts in Monmouth County.
