Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens' new green education center

A new 8,000-square-foot education center at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is being hailed as the "greenest public building in Maine." The newly unveiled Bosarge Family Education Center, a LEED platinum-certified structure funded by a $2 million donation from summer residents Ed and Marie Bosarge, is expected to generate more electricity through solar power than it consumes each year.

For more on the center and the benefits of green design, read an interview with Gunnar Hubbard of green consulting firm Fore Solutions in "LEEDing the way."
