Cousins Maine Lobster launched a new territory that is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, making this the eighth corporate-owned unit.
The company held a grand opening last Friday at Talisman Brewery in Ogden, Utah.
"We were looking for a strategic western city for our next corporate food truck and Salt Lake City immediately stood out,” said Cousins Maine Lobster co-founder Sabin Lomac. “It is one of the top food truck cities in America and we are thrilled to expand to such a strong market.”
Cousins Maine Lobster was founded in 2012 with a single food truck and a vision to make Maine lobster affordable and accessible. The business took off after Lomac and his cousin Jim Tselikis appeared on the TV pitch show "Shark Tank" and partnered with Barbara Corcoran, one of the investors. The company has partnered with local franchisees to bring Maine lobster to more than 40 cities.
"Salt Lake is a great foodie city with rapid growth and a strong economy. The community has been incredibly welcoming and the Food Truck League has been a great resource for our development,” said Jake Mutscheller, one of the two people in charge of the Salt Lake City franchise. "We are getting an overwhelming amount of booking and catering requests; it's been incredible. We are filling up fast and it just solidifies all we believed in with Salt Lake.”
In the past four months, Cousins Maine Lobster launched in Denver, Colo., and expanded into Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and the Gulf Coast, including Pensacola and Panama City, Fla., to Mobile, Ala.
