Credit union deploys video tellers to ATMs

The Bath-based Five County Credit Union is pushing ahead with new technology, bringing video tellers to some of the credit union's ATMs.

The Sun Journal reported Thursday that the new machines at Brunswick and Skowhegan branches will allow remote tellers at the credit union's Lewiston call center to connect remotely with customers.

The paper reports that the 23,853-member credit union is the first in Maine to use the video banking technology. The company currently staffs its call center with 16 employees who respond to ATM requests.

The credit union serves Androscoggin, Cumberland, Kennebec, Lincoln, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo and Knox counties.
