The credit union will donate an additional $5,000 through radio advertising.

Maine credit unions give back to the community in several ways, including two ongoing initiatives.

Town & Country Federal Credit Union, which is based in Scarborough, announced that it will provide $10,000 in support for the South Portland Food Cupboard’s 2023 "Feeding Neighbors in Need" benefit concert, scheduled for Saturday, May 20, at Aura in Portland.

The credit union's contribution will come in the form of a $5,000 check that it recently presented, plus $5,000 worth of radio advertising.

"Supporting our local community is who we are and what we do because we live here, too, and understand the challenges that far too many families and others are facing when it comes to having enough to eat," said Jon Paradise, Town & Country's senior vice president of communications, marketing and community outreach.

"The opportunity to make a significant contribution to support its largest annual fundraiser aligns with our ‘local helping local’ philosophy," he added. "We are grateful to be part of this incredible organization and the food it provides to so many people.”

Dwayne Hopkins, executive director of the South Portland Food Cupboard, called Town & Country's contribution “a great first step" towards achieving a $75,000 fundraising goal for the concert.

Tickets for the event, featuring the Don Campbell Band, cost $25 in advance and $35 at the door; more information is available here.

Town & Country is ranked No. 4 among the largest Maine-based credit unions in the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists, which was published in December. The rankings are based on total assets as of Sept. 30, 2022.
