Cross Insurance is forming a dedicated “Franchised Dealer Practice” that will focus on the increasingly changing and complex needs of new car and truck dealerships.
Cross Insurance is a subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp. and one of the largest independent insurance providers in New England.
The Cross Insurance Franchised Dealer Practice combines the agency’s previously separate property-and-casualty and employee benefits practice groups. The casualty component will — in addition to providing core property and garage coverage lines — assist in pollution, professional liability, cyber and other emerging or increasing exposures. The benefits component will coordinate ancillary lines, worksite coverages, retirement programs, business continuity and perpetuation planning services.
The Franchised Dealer Practice will be co-led by Michael J. McInnis Sr. and Scott S. Colford, who are both vice presidents with Cross.
Given the increasing size, exposures and intricacies of dealership operations, as well as retirement plan and business perpetuation needs, the practice will be able to source specialized services and expertise that exists within the Cross Insurance Agency system, the company said.
McInnis, who began his insurance career in 1972, currently oversees a large number of dealership customers and several key commercial accounts in a variety of industries at Cross Insurance, with which he has been affiliated since early 2014.
Colford, who began his insurance brokerage career in 1983, has a diverse insurance background encompassing securities, property and casualty and life and health insurance products. In 1996, he founded and ran a successful benefits agency for more than 15 years prior to being acquired by Cross Insurance in 2011. Colford’s client base includes some of the agency’s largest benefits accounts, including dealerships, manufacturers and insurance and financial services companies.
McInnis and Colford will work together in the company’s Bangor office.
