Cutler to form new PAC for moderates

Eliot Cutler, who lost last year's gubernatorial race to Gov. Paul LePage, is planning to start a new political action committee for Maine moderates.

Cutler, who ran as an Independent, said yesterday that PAC OneMaine will provide a forum for Mainers who feel disconnected from the state's political parties, according to the Portland Press Herald. OneMaine will raise money for candidates who reach across party lines, and possibly work on policy issues and getting moderate candidates elected. Cutler announced his plan at a gathering in Portland yesterday, held as a thank-you to his supporters in the area. He said the decision to launch a new PAC is unrelated to any actions by the current administration, or a desire to run for governor in 2014.

Cutler will form OneMaine in June.
