A Portland-based digital marketing firm has raised an additional $400,000 in seed financing, led by members of the Maine Angels and investors from Silicon Valley and Florida. Zylo Media will use the money to launch its promotional marketing website called BoodleUP.
BoodleUP combines online gaming and promotional marketing to offer local products and services to consumers, according to a press release. Zylo Media tested the website in Portland late last year with about 30 businesses participating, and the new round of financing will allow it to roll out a commercial version in Cambridge, Mass. Terms of the financing have not been disclosed. Zylo President and CEO Robert Bruce told Mainebiz the company chose Cambridge in part because of the area's higher concentration of tech-savvy young professionals.
"We are excited to be backing a Maine entrepreneurial team that has both the experience working in major technology markets, and a scalable business concept you'd expect out of a place like Cambridge or New York -- but they're building the company in Portland," said Sandra Stone, chair of Maine Angels, in the release.
