A nationally recognized pet supply company in Rockland has found a new location for its new “world headquarters” in downtown Rockland, filling a space that had been home to The Reading Corner bookstore for more than 40 years.
On Friday, Loyal Biscuit Co. purchased the building located at 404 and 408 Main St. in a move that would not only add additional retail and office space, but would also provide parking in the rear of the flagship store — a welcome addition for those who have traveled along the busy downtown of Rockland.
Currently, Loyal Biscuit operates out of a nearby location at 448 Main St., a location it’s called home since 2010.
In addition to the headquarters location, which is scheduled to open at the end of March or early April, the pet supply company also has locations in Belfast, Camden and Waterville, according to The Bangor Daily News.
In 2015, the co-owner of Loyal Biscuit, Heidi Neal, was named the state’s Small Business Person of the Year. The company itself has been recognized by national pet trade publications including being named the top retailer of the year by Pet Age Magazine and Small Business of the Year by the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.
