The Portland-based Elite Airways is continuing its expansion, as the Portland International Jetport announced that the airline operator will be doubling its nonstop service from Portland to Orlando-Melbourne on Wednesday.
Beginning Nov. 17, the twice-weekly service on Mondays and Fridays will become four times weekly service with flights on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. Jetport officials say that the additional flights represent a doubling of the operation to Orlando-Melbourne over last winter.
“The Portland/Melbourne route has been a strong performer since launching last fall, and we are pleased to double the service to four-times weekly in time for holiday and winter travel,” John Pearsall, president of Elite Airways, said in a statement. “The success of our northeast-to-Florida routes has been a significant factor in Elite Airways’ success and expansion, and we look forward to introducing more exciting destinations in the future.”
On Sept. 6, the airway also announced that it will be adding new flights that will run twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, between Portland and Sarasota, on Florida's west coast, starting Nov. 17.
