Ex-bookkeeper steals from Kittery market

A Portsmouth, N.H., woman has been charged with embezzling more than $29,000 from her former Kittery employer. Deborah Sterry, 55, has been charged with theft by unauthorized taking for stealing money from Carl's Meat Market and Golden Harvest, according to the Portland Press Herald. Sterry worked as the bookkeeper there, and fell under police investigation after the market's owner contacted police.

Sterry is scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Sept. 6.
