LEWISTON Promotional products distributor Geiger has acquired Freeport-based Winter People Image Marketing, the latest of several acquisitions in recent months.

Winter People, which also has a Falmouth location, will operate as a division of Geiger, according to a news release. Clay Bouton, senior VP of sales, will remain as a key contact with the company.

The acquisition is the latest in the Lewiston-based company's recent expansion. In January, the company announced its United Kingdom-based distributorship, GeigerBTC, had acquired London-based firm EMC Advertising Gifts. Financial terms of the deal were not released, but Geiger reported that it was part of its strategy to expand in the United Kingdom and Europe.

It also announced in January its acquisition of Bloomington, Ill.-based distributor CM Promotions as part of an expansion strategy aimed at broadening its client base in the Midwest.

In November, the company acquired Bank Express/Promo Warehouse, a web-based distributor with a national reach that is now operating as a division of Geiger. And in March 2018, Geiger bought BTC Group, a U.K.-based promotional products distributorship that was rebranded as “Geiger BTC Group.”

A family-owned business since 1987, Winter People Image Marketing has built a reputation for quality uniform and promotional merchandising programs in the New England region. The firm also offers apparel decoration for all its programs onsite.

“With over 30 years of success serving the hospitality industry and corporate customers, we are excited to join forces with Geiger to offer a powerful, unified solution to image marketing,” said Bouton. “We look forward to expanding our service capability; leveraging Geiger’s strength in corporate programs is sure to help us continue to grow our business.”

Jo-an Lantz, president and CEO of Geiger, said the company is "very pleased to have Clay and the Winter People team join Geiger."

“Their expertise with uniforms and apparel decoration will expand our resources and capabilities and ultimately will enhance our program business," she said.

With headquarters in Lewiston, Geiger operates from offices across the United States and Europe and is affiliated with more than 450 independent sales representatives. Geiger provides proactive comprehensive marketing solutions to their clients, according to the news release.

With reported 2017 North American promotional products revenue of $185.5 million, Geiger ranked 10th on Counselor magazine’s 2018 list of the largest distributors in the industry. The magazine reported that the privately owned Geiger, founded in 1878, had more than 400 employees.
