FieldStack, a lean retail company based in Portland, has received funding and access to mentors and other resources through the Blackstone Accelerates Growth Accelerated Ventures program.
The company was told last November that it had been accepted into the Accelerated Ventures program, says Michael Stefanakos, vice president of strategic partnerships at FieldStack, but received a check from Blackstone last week. He told Mainebiz it was in the upper range of the $10,000 cap that Blackstone awards.
Bull Moose founder and President Brett Wickard also founded and heads FieldStack.
“The reasons we got recognized is FieldStack’s high and fast growth potential,” Stefanakos said. “We will use the money to brand FieldStack, for our logo, name, signage and the inside of our facility.”
The lean manufacturing software and services devised by FieldStack evolved from work Wickard started at Bull Moose and improved through a series of companies.
Earlier winners of Accelerated Ventures awards are ClaimVantage, Cerahelix, Pika Energy, Dream Local Digital, Fluid Imaging Technologies and R.H. Foster Energy. The awardees have access to money and advice from industry veterans.
“We’ll take advantage of anything we can,” Stefanakos said. “It’s a real honor to be included as part of this [Accelerated Ventures]. It validates our innovative approach and provides access for us.” He says the current 20-person company eventually wants to grow into a 2,000-employee company.
