Interstate fishing regulators are discussing possibly reopening Maine's shrimp fishery, which has been closed since 2013 because of warming oceans, the Associated Press reported.

Shrimp do not thrive in warming oceans, according to scientists, which has made it difficult for them to recover.

The AP said Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission fishery managers are looking into new regulations to better manage the fishery. Fishery Management Plan Coordinator Max Appelman says new regulations would address issues such as overcapacity in the fishery, according to the wire service.
