FocusMaine, a private-sector organization working to create jobs in the food and bioeconomy, has added Kristen Miale, the former president of the Good Shepherd Food Bank, and Amanda Rector, the State Economist for Maine, to its board.
Miale is a managing director at Caswell Advisory Group, a sell-side mergers and acquisitions firm representing business owners throughout New England.
Prior to her role at the Caswell Advisory Group, Miale served as president of Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine for 11 years. As president, she led the statewide organization through several transformational growth periods. She co-founded Harvesting Good, a for-profit vegetable processing company that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Good Shepherd. In 2020, Miale was named a Mainebiz Business Leader of the Year.
Before her time at Good Shepherd, she worked for more than a decade in finance. She also serves on the boards of Harvesting Good and Daily Table, a nonprofit chain of five grocery stores in the Boston area. Miale received her undergraduate degree in computer science from Boston College and a master’s in business administration from Boston University.
As the state economist for Maine, Rector conducts ongoing analyses of the state’s economic and demographic conditions to help inform policy decisions. She joined the Maine state government in 2004 and has served as state economist since 2011.
Rector is the chair of the state's Revenue Forecasting Committee and serves as Gov. Janet Mills' liaison to the U.S. Census Bureau. She holds membership on the advisory board for the New England Public Policy Center at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the board of visitors at the Muskie School of Public Service.
The Union resident earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from Wellesley College and a master’s in public policy and management from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine. She is also a Maine Development Foundation’s Leadership Maine program graduate.
“We are grateful to Kristen and Amanda for joining FocusMaine and agreeing to share their invaluable experience, knowledge, and perspective as we move into our next stage of impact,” said Andrea Cianchette Maker, FocusMaine president, co-chair and co-founder.
FocusMaine works to create quality jobs and build a thriving workforce statewide.
