Former chamber CEO joins Greater Portland Council of Governments

Chris Hall, former CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, has joined the Greater Portland Council of Governments as the director of regional initiatives.

Hall was formerly CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. He joins GPCOG to help lead the agency’s efforts to strengthen the region’s cities and towns by building a broad collaboration to grow jobs and help residents thrive.
“GPCOG is starting a new chapter in its distinguished history of serving cities and towns in Greater Portland and the Lakes Region,” said Kristina Egan, GPCOG executive director. “With the addition of Chris to our staff, we are stepping up our game in leading the region toward greater prosperity. Chris will be forging partnerships between public, private, social service, and education leaders to grow our economy.”
Hall brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in public policy and development strategies to GPCOG. He will be responsible for leading the agency’s development of a regional vision and plan for economic, social and environmental prosperity, as well as organizing the region’s voice to express the priorities of communities in the Greater Portland and Lakes Region.
“In my 27 years of experience, I have never seen a group of municipal leaders more clearly committed to working together as a region to prioritize economic opportunities for our businesses and residents,” Hall said. “GPCOG is committed to making our entire region stronger through the thoughtful deployment of data-driven strategies that bring together world-class planning, transportation and economic development work. I’m honored to be a part of that effort.”

GPCOG serves 26 member municipalities from Casco Bay to Sebago Lake, providing economic development, transportation and land-use planning, mapping services, as well as sustainable energy education. GPCOG strengthens the cities and towns of Greater Portland and the Lakes Region by providing excellent, responsive services and leading the region toward sustainable prosperity.
