Tim Schneider, former public advocate for Maine, will join one of Maine’s fastest-growing companies, Tilson Technology Management.
Schneider will serve as general counsel and principal consultant, starting July 24, the Portland-based IT services company said in a press release Thursday.
Schneider, who was appointed by Gov. Paul LePage, spent four years representing Maine utility customers before the Public Utilities Commission. He was lead attorney on several high-profile cases before the PUC, including a review of the purchase of up to $75 million per year in natural gas pipeline capacity on behalf of Maine ratepayers.
Prior to that, he was an attorney in the energy practice at Pierce Atwood LLP.
“Tim brings invaluable telecom and energy regulatory and team leadership experience to Tilson at just the right time, as our company continues to grow quickly and serve clients nationally in the public and the private sectors,” said Joshua Broder, CEO of Tilson. “Tim’s expertise and knack for coalition-building will greatly complement our current capabilities, bolster our management team and further position Tilson as a trusted provider of infrastructure consulting and network deployment services.”
Tilson, which has been on a hiring spree and now has 240 employees, is building a new headquarters in Portland, at 16 Middle St. It also has offices in Manchester, N.H; Syracuse, N.Y.; Clifton, N.J.; Denver, Colo.; Portland, Ore.; Foley, Ala.; and Montpelier, Vt. The company builds, integrates and maintains IT and communications infrastructure. Tilson was one of Mainebiz’s fastest-growing companies last year, with sales growth of 114% over three years. Sales totaled $37 million last year.
“I’m excited to bring my skills and experience to bear on a new and different set of challenges at Tilson, working with industry leaders to advance our nation’s infrastructure and create opportunities for growth here in Maine and nationally,” Schneider said in the press release.
