Tricia Costigan, a Navy veteran who previously led Northern Light Inland Hospital and Continuing Care in Waterville, has been named president of a MaineHealth hospital in North Conway, N.H.
Costigan will lead MaineHealth Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed "critical access” facility serving the Mount Washington Valley of northern New Hampshire and western Maine.
Besides her leadership role in Waterville, Costigan has worked as executive director of the Medical Group at Saratoga Hospital in New York and as division administrator at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Costigan is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served on multiple healthcare and community boards. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from Saint Leo University in Florida. Additionally, she served as a hospital corpsman in the Navy.
In a 2023 “On the Record” interview with Mainebiz, Costigan talked about some of the learnings from her military service that have stayed with her.
“The biggest lesson I observed from watching military leaders was that leading from the front doesn’t mean standing in front,” she said. “It is not a top-down approach. When done right, leading from the front looks more like working with and amongst your team.”
In her new role at MaineHealth, Costigan succeeds Bradley Chapman, who departed earlier this year to pursue a leadership opportunity with a health care system in western New York and Pennsylvania.
“Tricia has a strong track record of driving improvements in patient care, financial performance, and hospital culture,” said Christopher Perley, chair of MaineHealth Memorial Hospital’s board of trustees. “Her leadership aligns perfectly with our mission to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to the communities we serve.”
MaineHealth Memorial Health is part of Maine's largest hospital system.
