Furniture plant to be auctioned

The Moosehead Manufacturing Co. plant in Dover-Foxcroft will be up for sale Nov. 15 when its owners auction the building and remaining contents.

The furniture company closed last year when it became too difficult for it to compete with less expensive foreign imports, the Bangor Daily News reported. Joshua Tardy and a group of investors bought the company's second Monson plant and are making furniture there under the name Moosehead Furniture.

The 85,000-square-foot Dover-Foxcroft facility has a biomass boiler that burns wood waste and is located along a river and nearby hydropower dam. In addition to the building and land, the auction will sell off furniture, small tools, office equipment and woodworking parts, the paper reported.
