Whistleblower wins case

An electrician who blew the whistle on unlicensed employees working at Saddleback Ski Area and was eventually fired has won his court case.

An Androscoggin County Superior Court judge awarded Robert Duggan Jr., 37, formerly of Minot, back pay of nearly $2,000 and damages totaling $22,500, according to the Sun Journal. Duggan filed the lawsuit in 2004 after he said he was penalized for telling a state inspector that unlicensed workers were violating state electrical codes during a $20 million renovation project at the Rangeley ski resort.

Steven Langsdorf, an attorney for Saddleback, argued in court that it was Duggan's former employer, Farmington-based Integrity Electrical Installation and Service Inc., and not Saddleback, that tried to reassign Duggan, the paper reported. The ski resort is considering an appeal.
