Gas prices decline for first time in two weeks

The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in the state dropped by two cents to $2.35, bucking the steady price of $2.37 reported in the last two weeks.

During that same period, the average national price for a gallon of gas dropped by four cents to $2.33, according to the popular price-tracking website GasBuddy.

The $2.35 statewide average reported on Monday morning is higher than both New Hampshire's average $2.26 price per gallon and Vermont's average price of $2.33 per gallon.

“All things considered, gasoline prices will start the summer solstice later today at their lowest level in some 11 years,” Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com, said in a release. “While motorists have had anxiety with the recent volatility in prices, rest assured that barring any major changes, fuel prices this summer are very likely to average out to their lowest level since the 2005 driving season.”
