Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday

Three of the 10 Ruby Tuesday restaurants in Maine have closed, following an announcement by the company last week that it has shut 95 of its 724 locations across the country.

WABI-TV 5 reported that Ruby Tuesday locations in Biddeford, the Bangor Mall and the Maine Mall in South Portland have closed. According to the company’s website, the remaining Ruby Tuesday locations in the state are in Brewer, Waterville, Augusta, Auburn, Topsham, Westbrook and Presque Isle.

"The decision to close restaurants is a difficult but necessary step as we take aggressive actions to strengthen our organization," JJ Buettgen, Ruby Tuesday's chairman of the board, president and CEO, said in a statement last week. "Performance at each of these locations, despite the loyalty of valued guests and the efforts of our dedicated employees, was not meeting expectations."
