The Greater Bangor Association of Realtors donated $8,750 to House in the Woods, a nonprofit committed to aiding U.S. armed forces members and their families.
A ceremonial presentation of the check took place at a gathering at Jeff's Catering in Bangor.
House in the Woods offers therapeutic, recreational and educational retreats, utilizing Maine’s wilderness and natural habitats. Its work focuses on assisting U.S. armed forces members and their families to navigate the challenges related to their service and sacrifice.
The Greater Bangor Association of Realtors continues to invite community members and organizations to join in supporting initiatives like House in the Woods.
In 2021, House in the Woods received an anonymous $1.4 million donation to pay off the balance due on the House in the Woods Military & Family Retreat lodge in the Penobscot County town of Lee. Without debt on the lodge, the nonprofit said it would focus solely on expanding its retreats and serving more veterans.
