The Municipal Waste Solutions facility in Hampden has hired Gary Hartmann as chief operating officer.
With over 20 years of experience in the waste management industry, Hartmann will oversee the much-anticipated restart of the facility, which has been offline for more than four years, and will be responsible for daily operations.
Under the direction of the Municipal Review Committee, the facility processes recyclable materials to sell to manufacturers as raw materials for new products.
“I am very excited to step into this new role and continue my commitment to delivering recycling solutions for the MRC communities as we restart the facility in Hampden,” Hartmann told Mainebiz. “I look forward to working with the talented team here at MRC and Municipal Waste Solutions to meet the needs of the community."
Hartmann brings a wealth of knowledge from his most recent position as district general manager for Waste Connections in Albany, N.Y., where he managed sites that processed more than 150,000 tons of waste annually and led a team of more than 130 employees.
His extensive experience includes leadership roles at Republic Services and Waste Management in Delaware, where he was involved in all facets of operational management.
Additionally, MRC has hired Kasey Fisher, a senior process engineer with a proven track record in facility development. Fisher joins Municipal Waste Solutions as a consultant from Continuus Materials, where she was based in Philadelphia, according to her LinkedIn profile. She is a dual-degree graduate of West Virginia University.
"We are thrilled to welcome Gary Hartmann and Kasey Fisher to the MRC team," said Michael Carroll, executive director of the MRC. "Gary’s leadership and operational expertise, along with Kasey’s engineering expertise, will be invaluable as we continue to drive forward with the MRF restart and our MWS reopening goals."
