Hannaford gets into the electric car game

Milk, bread, eggs, charge for your electric vehicle? That’s the new grocery list for some shoppers at five Maine Hannaford supermarkets following the installation of high-speed electric vehicle charging stations.

The stations, which were installed in partnership and owned by EVgo, can fully charge an electric vehicle in 20 minutes compared to the several hours it could take at home or other public charging stations, the Portland Press Herald reported.

The stations are located at Hannaford’s Forest Avenue store in Portland, in South Portland at the Maine Mall and in Topsham, York and Augusta, according to the Press Herald.

“You should see Hannaford as your new corner gas station,” said Barry Woods, director of Electric Mobility NE, an electric vehicle advocacy group, according to the Press Herald.
