Central Maine Healthcare has hired a nationally recognized health care leader to guide business development efforts at Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital.

Robert Slattery joins CMH, the Lewiston-based parent company of Central Maine Medical Center and the critical access hospitals in Bridgton and Rumford, after previously serving as president and CEO of Integrated Solutions Health Network, a subsidiary of Mountain States Health Alliance, a four-state health system based in Johnson City, Tenn. Prior to that, he was a vice president and general manager for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s Senior Care health plan and also served in leadership positions with United Healthcare, HCIM, Aetna and WellPoint.

David Frum, president and CEO of the regional critical access hospitals in Bridgton and Rumford, said Slattery brings more than 25 years of experience to his new assignment.

“I speak for our board and entire organization when I say we are thrilled to have the talent of Rob on our team,” he said in a release announcing Slattery’s appointment. “He is passionate about the need for transformation in our industry and has been working on the front lines to enable true health care delivery system development and collaboration that generate measurable value and performance.”

During his tenure as a senior member of its leadership team, MSHA received the National Quality Forum’s National Quality Healthcare Award, was a two-time finalist for the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, recipient of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence Award, and the U.S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award for Virginia.

In its release, CMH described Slattery as a “strong advocate of person-centered care, clinical integration and population health management, which is at the foundation of Central Maine Healthcare’s service portfolio.”

“I’m excited to join the regional leadership team of Bridgton and Rumford hospitals, while also being a strategic resource for the Central Maine Healthcare system,” Slattery stated in the release, adding that he looked forward to working to “solidify our position as a premier health care delivery system and trusted partner for both payers and providers determined to shape the way in which health care is delivered to their members, patients and employers within the communities we serve.”
