Heat wave testing NE power grid

New England's regional power grid operators expect a heat wave through this week could push power demand above a seven-year record.

The Associated Press reported ISO-New England could seek emergency electricity from other regions as businesses and individuals turn up air conditioning units to find comfort in the mid- to high-90s temperatures expected through Saturday.

The AP reported a spokeswoman for the grid operator said they expect the region to have a 2,000-megawatt power surplus through the week, but are cautious about that supply running thin.
