One hundred employers throughout the state have been named the Best Places to Work in Maine by an annual ranking.
Now in its 17th year, the list is compiled by the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, with the goal of encouraging excellence in employers and recognizing those that have consistently fostered outstanding workplaces.
The organization that manages the ranking program, Best Companies Group, selects the recipients based on information gathered from applicants, including employee benefits, workplace policies and employee responses to a comprehensive satisfaction survey.
Participating companies receive an employee feedback report in an effort to help improve their scores and make improvements in their workplace cultures.
Specific rankings of the winners, categorized by number of U.S. employees, will be revealed in a special publication of endorsing partner Mainebiz. Other partners include the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and the Maine HR Convention.
In a news release Tuesday, Gov. Janet Mills praised this year's Best Places to Work in Maine honorees.
“I could not be prouder of the determination and perseverance shown by Maine employers over the last few years. Together, Maine businesses and the good, hardworking people they employ have helped power Maine’s strong economic recovery,” said Mills.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate each company named as one of this year’s ‘Best Places to Work in Maine’ and look forward to continuing my Administration’s support of all Maine businesses as we work together to ensure that Maine remains the best place to live, work and raise a family.”
