Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty hired three agents for its Damariscotta office. Two come from backgrounds in the insurance industry, one with global experience including from New York City to India.
David Hagan of Damariscotta is a Massachusetts native who spent summers at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport and winters in Rangeley.
Before making midcoast Maine his permanent home a decade ago, he spent 15 years in Portland, including Peaks Island. He was introduced to the midcoast area over 20 years ago by his wife, whose family owned a house on Beauchamp Point in Rockport.
Transitioning from a multi-decade career in the insurance industry to real estate was a natural evolution. His corporate background gave him experience in effective communication, complex negotiations and building relationships.
“David’s clients will benefit from our engaging technology and global resources, as well as his extensive knowledge of the midcoast market,” said Chris Lynch, Legacy’s founder and president.
Fred Hebert of New Harbor grew up in New Hampshire and had a career of three decades in the property-casualty insurance sector, where he worked both domestically and overseas. Throughout his career, he relocated multiple times and bought vacation homes, which offered firsthand insight into the property market.
He has lived in cities across the world including New York City, Philadelphia, Charlotte, N.C.; Chennai, India, and most recently London, England, and Darien, Conn.
It was a natural fit to pivot to real estate after retiring from the insurance industry. His professional journey equipped him with skills such as effective communication, strategic negotiation, an understanding of contracts, risk-value relationships and attention to detail. He also has a diverse real estate portfolio.
Hebert was introduced to the midcoast region over four decades ago by his wife, whose family has owned a house on Pemaquid Point since 1888. They later bought a summer home in New Harbor.
“His clients will appreciate his access to our global network and resources,” said Lynch.
Debi Fox of Damariscotta has been selling real estate for over 20 years and has sold over 250 houses.
Debi was raised in Cumberland and spent summers in Harpswell. Her family had an 80-acre farm in Cumberland, where she had horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs.
After helping to deliver a sailboat from the Portland Yacht Club to Coconut Grove in Florida, she stayed for a time, moved to Boston, then returned to Maine, where she opened her own business in Damariscotta in the 1980s, Fox’s Glass Works.
She sold the business after 20 years and dove into real estate.
She and her husband have restored and rebuilt several houses and are in the process of restoring her husband’s childhood home on the Eastern River.
She is a member of the National Association of Realtors, has served on the board of directors of the Maine Association of Realtors for several years, and is the former president of the Lincoln County Board of Realtors. In 2010, received the Realtor of the Year award.
Said Lynch, “Debi’s career spans over 20 years with a proven track record for helping her clients achieve results.”
