Home sales drop in February

Home sales in Maine fell in February, while the median sales price increased.

A total of 482 existing single-family homes were sold last month, a decrease of 2.43%, according to a press release from the Maine Real Estate Information System Inc. The median sales price inched up almost 1% to $159,450. From December to February, the number of homes sold in Maine has dropped nearly 3% from the same three-month period the year prior, while the median sales price has increased 1.85%.

Nationally, home sales fell 2.7% in February and the median sales price decreased 4.2% to $157,000. In the Northeast, sales dropped 8.3% and the median sales price fell 9.5% to $230,200.
